The Ferry Misery Seat

To celebrate this new blog whose address was e-mailed to me, it's time to present the FERRY misery seat.

A misery seat is most famous on trains as that puny seat next to the stairs that is tailor made for depressed contortionists.

The seats are the same size as all the others but it's one of only a few seats which faces the opposite direction. So all you long-limbed supermodels who take the Rydalmere to "town" are going to be ogled to infinity. Plus, someone is directly facing you which could serve for creepy hilarity if you're the only two people on the 2am ferry and you just stare at them wide eyed.

It mightn't look too tragic but let's not forget the point of ferries. What they lack in speed and cost efficiency, ferries make up for in scenery. It's definitely the scenic route of the Sydney public transport system.

You expect to see views like this (assuming the empire state building is currently sitting on the ferry)

But with the misery seat you just get a stonking...

So unless patchy off-white floats your ferry, avoid! Add a comment..
