Sydney Spy Classic
That was until you turned your head to the left slightly
This picture is pretty tame because it was taken early in the morning. By midday, Fisher Library was harder to get out of than this lame comparison I just set up for myself. Wentworth Building was even worse than outside Fisher. It was a punctuated sea of people trying to hand you paper. I was collecting them left and right... On the first day of the elections my SRC representative gave to me....
I'll be warm this winter thanks to Nick Wood's face. There's only so many times you can say to those hander-outers, convincingly "No thanks, I already voted for you!"
After noticing them parade themselves around campus for weeks, seeing the candidates in person felt like a celebrity sighting.
Thanks to one of spies for this interesting angle on Action Wood. My spy was trying to get to Fisher Library by taking a rather circuitous route but Nick somehow appeared magically. Unsurprisingly, he started to spiel then mentioned that he was spieling at the end. I'm sure his rehearsed tone and constant hand-shaking were enough of a clue. Apparently he did seem like a really nice and genuine guy. Although I can't expect any candidate to reveal to me their secret hobby of going to the river yonder with a sac of kittens purring.
There were a few joke parties on the ballot sheet like the one called "Aahahahahah I'm First On The Ballot" which was ironically buried in right corner somewhere. The "Joke Candidate" turned out to be an actual candidate, to my surprise.
These elections were absolutely brutal. Personal attacks, childishly tearing down other people's posters, a third thing to make this list sound fuller. I personally don't care at all about politics but it warmed my heart when I saw some "Keep Left" party members sitting and talking friendly with some Liberal "Choice" people.
Whoever wins, congratulations. Good luck to you all.
